THE
VILLAGE SHOW
THE FOURTH IN THE
CHRONICLES OF TURNHAM
MALPAS SERIES
Louise Bissett, daughter of Sir Ronald and Lady Sheila Bissett, comes
to the village after a disastrous love affair which has caused her to
lose her job in a bank. She develops a passion for the rector, Peter
Harris and helps him on the Parish magazine.
When the Village show requires a secretary, she volunteers, little realising
the jealousies and rivalries the Show will unearth amongst the villagers
and how problematic the Show will be to organise.
Telling the Rector of her feelings for him, Louise is devastated when
he rejects her and she realises she is never going to have him for her
own. But the church choir master has seen her need for love and provides
her with it. A state of affairs she keeps secret from everyone.
Finally, the show goes ahead and is a tremendous success. Louise has
changed and much to her surprise, her feelings for the village, which
she once despised, have also changed. She has come to love the village
and feels it is the one place she would always like to live.
