David Alderton

David AldertonDavid Alderton has always been fascinated by animals and the natural world, with this interest extending right back to his childhood in Sussex. Some of his earliest memories are exploring the Downs, and the rock pools at Rottingdean near Brighton. His first book - about lovebirds, was published while studying veterinary medicine at Cambridge University.

David’s books about pets and wildlife have currently sold over 6.5 million copies in 30 languages, being published by companies including Harper Collins, Reader’s Digest and Dorling Kindersley.  His work has been nominated for and won various awards, including the Maxwell Medallion from the Dog Writers’ Association of America.

He has gained extensive experience of working across other media as well, including radio and television, and is well-known for his columns and articles which have appeared in a very wide range of newspapers and magazines worldwide.
